Support Team

Guides: we have professional outdoor trained local guides to lead our trekking/ walking and climbing teams. The ratio is 1 Guide for 3 clients.

Porters: we have enough local porters who provide porterage services. The porters are trained to give all support to the guides and clients while on the safari. The ratio is 2 Porters for 1 Client.

Cook/Chefs: we have trained chef to accompany our every trip. They are trained to cater all diets depending with clients' request- able to handle special diet cases like vegetarian diets. The ratio is 1 cook for 5 clients.

Food

All meals for the trek are either fresh or tinned. Our chefs do their best to prepare a three course meal up on the mountain- starting with hot soup and bread roll, Main course- either pasta, rice, mashed potatoes served with vegetable stew, chicken stew, or beef stew, then fresh fruits and finish up with a

Number of Clients per Trip

Our Minimum number is 01 pax.
Maximum group per trip is 30 pax.

Age

Minimum number of year to do our high altitude trek is 12 years old.
Our Day-trips can be done at an age of 6 years.

Tripping

  • Recommended tipping range is;
  • Guide is between Usd 15 to 20 per day.
  • Cook is between Usd 10 to 15 per day.
  • Porters is between Usd 7 to 10 per day.

Health and Fitness

Anyone contemplating one of our expeditions should take regular exercise. It is recommended that you start a training program at least one, if not two months before your safari.

Seasons for Climbing Mt. Kenya

It has been generally accepted that our climbing seasons are from mid-December to mind- March and from mid June-to the end of September.However, these traditional weather patterns seem to be the exception rather than the rule: the chances of encountering good weather on the mountain seem to be about equal throughout the year, so the timing of your safari is not as critical as once was.

Our Mountain rates include:

Pickup from Nairobi Airport or Hotel, All park entry fees, camping fees, food while on the mountain, guides, cooks, porters, accommodation in mountain huts, high altitude camping tents- single or twin sharing, dining tents, camping tables and stools transport of the guides, cook, and porters, Drop off back to Nairobi hotel or Airport.

Not included:

All personal trekking equipment.

Some of the Rock Climbing equipment required:

  • Helmet.
  • 02 Ropes :- 01 dry treated dynamic climbing rope.(10.5mm x 50m) and 01 sport rope (9mmx50m)
  • Sitting harness.
  • Repel Device.
  • Locking carabineers: - D-shaped locking and non-locking carabineers.
  • Slings (several)
  • Ascension ascenders (right and left).
  • Daisy chain
  • 01 Rack: - tri-cam, hexes, nuts, quick draw oval.

Note:

Technical climbing in Mount Kenya needs a well-trained rock climber. For any climber not confident enough we highly recommend you to hire a rock climbing guide to lead the climb. The hiring of the guide is extra - charges are Usd 600 per client payable directly to the guide before the start of the climb. In case of accidents while climbing, we have rescue team managed by Kenya wildlife services.
