“It takes a village to raise a child.” — African Proverb.
On Wednesday, June 3rd, 2026, even the chilly Nairobi morning could not dampen our resolve. After all, raising a child with confidence, dignity, and self-esteem requires an entire community coming together. And for the students of YMCA Kibera School, Kendirita Tours is proud to be part of that village.
For the past three years, we have partnered with the school to provide hygiene kits and material support to students at the school, reaffirming our shared commitment to their well-being and education.
Our Contribution

Hygiene Kits
This was our 8th consecutive engagement since we commenced our partnership with the school in January 2024. Every term, we visit the school and provide hygiene kits that contain a bar of laundry soap, two cakes of bathing soap, two pairs of undergarments, a tub of petroleum jelly and 3 packets of sanitary pads (for girls).
It goes without saying that we have seen a school transformed. When we arrived, we were met by clean, healthy and cheerful children learning together in confidence. A conversation with the headteacher revealed an increase in student enrollment compared to the previous year, while absenteeism, especially, had dropped significantly.
School Fees Payment

Many families across Kenya and the continent rely on daily wages or small-scale farming for their upkeep. But fluctuating economic times often mean that parents have to make difficult trade-offs between education and daily survival. While the government of Kenya provides significant capitation per learner, a gap still exists, one that can hinder uninterrupted learning.
In response to this reality, Kendiritahas supported selected students by paying their school fees, easing the financial burden on their parents and helping to keep learners in school.
In 2025, our first beneficiaries graduated from Tartar and Asumbi Girls’ High Schools-with stellar academic performances. We are currently paying fees for 9 students in several high schools across Kenya, three of whom are alumni of Kibera YMCA School.
We continue to extend an open invitation to partners who share this vision to join us in supporting learners and strengthening access to education for all.
A Random Act of Kindness
During our June visit (and simply by chance), we had the opportunity to engage with The Coffee Ministry, a non-governmental organization based in Kibera that works closely with the school community. The team is made up of creatives who dedicate their time to offering free training sessions for the students after school.
At The Coffee Ministry, learners are encouraged to explore and develop their talents in areas such as photography, writing, and storytelling- creating a space where creativity and self-expression can thrive alongside formal education.
In a generous gesture of collaboration, the team assisted us in distributing the hygiene kits and also documented the event through professional photography at no cost.
Looking Ahead
At its very heart, our 2026 second-term CSR initiative served as a reminder that simple acts of kindness can have a lasting impact. By supporting students’ health and well-being today, we help create an environment where they can learn and pursue their dreams without any barriers.
Kendirita Tours is grateful for the opportunity to make a contribution to ‘the village’ we all come from and belong. And we look forward to continuing initiatives that uplift communities and invest in brighter futures.
