Exciting Ways to Enjoy Nairobi on a Budget

Every year, millions of people travel to Kenya’s capital, Nairobi. Not only does the city draw tourists from all over the world, but Kenyans who reside outside the city also frequently visit Nairobi for varied reasons such as trade, study, work, or simply for fun.

The city’s allure is irresistible as it continues to prove to be a dream destination for anyone looking to have a good time. The national park, thrilling entertainment joints, cutting-edge technology integrated into most service delivery, and amusing activities for both adults and children are just among the few examples of Nairobi’s culture.

Now, while most entertainment options might leave a slight dent in your pockets, not all of them do. It is still possible to enjoy Nairobi even on a shoestring budget. Below are a few highlights of affordable fun options:

Bowling

Weekends offer an exciting chance for an afternoon of bowling. Although not entirely a new sport in Nairobi, bowling has received increasing popularity in the recent past largely because of how ideal an option it is for groups of friends or families who want to simply hang out while playing. It is an equally fun choice for couples as it makes for excellent date nights.

Currently, you may enjoy a bowling game at the Village Market on Limuru road, Westgate and Sarit Centre malls in Westlands, and at NextGen Mall on Mombasa Road at Kes. 500 for an hour of gaming on Friday evenings and weekends. But if you really need to enjoy the best deals, there is usually an offer on weekdays where you can enjoy bowling for Kes. 350 between 10 am and 4 pm. You only have to check the specific establishments online for their current offers.

Bowling alleys are a vision and quite frankly a sight to behold. Their stylish architectural designs, ambient lighting, and good music make the entire experience very relaxing and fun.

A few tips to note:

  • You will need special bowling shoes, usually, the management provides special grip shoes at no extra cost. But you are allowed to carry your own.
  • You don’t have to worry; you will not miss your shoe size at the alley.
  • You don’t need to be a pro to go bowling, the joy is not in the score but in the fun of throwing the ball at the pins.
  • Bowling is quite affordable and accessible to all.
  • Most bowling alleys in Nairobi open at 10 am and close by 10 pm latest.

But it’s on Thursday that the deals get really exciting! At just 550 per person, you get to enjoy the whole package of the trampoline, foosball, wall climbing, and shooting hoop.
