Day 1 Nairobi / Aberdare National Park

After your breakfast at 0800 hrs. Our tour driver will pick you and you embark on your trip to the Abardare National Park.  Your trip will be through the industrial town of Thika and the intensely cultivated farms of the central Kenya, through lush tea and coffee estates to the base hotels. Lunch will be served at the base Hotels. After lunch you will be transferred to the tree hotel.

The tree hotels are nestled in the foothills between Aberdare and Mount Kenya National Park, the tree hotels are famous for high perches and balconies, overlooking a salt lick and waterhole. Boasting a remarkable record of wildlife sightings from their floodlit waterhole’s and salt licks, here we will enjoy the finest in high-altitude game viewing.

The Aberdare National Park is most famous as the place with significant memories in world history. In 1952, Queen Elizabeth II learnt of her accession to the British throne while she was a guest at Treetops lodge following the death of her father, King George II. Since then this lodge has been popular with tourists on safari to Kenya. It is one of Kenya’s most unspoiled forest parks. It is also unique because of the tree hotels designed for guests to observe wildlife coming to the waterhole (or salt lick). Wildlife viewing from this elevated position is a remarkably rewarding way to see animals otherwise difficult to spot in the dense vegetation. Aberdare is best appreciated for its tangle of pristine forest and its inhabitants, not so much for the usual safari

Enjoy your afternoon in the tree hotel as you watch animals as they come to the waterhole to drink and to lick salt at the salt lick.

Dinner and overnight at the tree hotel

After Breakfast you will take another drive to enjoy the scenery and see the lake once again as you proceed to Lake Bogoria

Lake Bogoria is a shallow soda lake set amidst beautiful scenery. Like the other Kenyan soda lakes, it has no outlet and the intense evaporation leads to high levels of salt and minerals, which flamingos love and from a distance the surface of the water appears bright pink. Next to the lake are steaming hot springs and geysers, but don’t be tempted to put your hands into the water if you are at all fond of your skin!  The vapor from the hot springs is believed to be medicinal. You can carry a raw egg and boil it at the hot springs and eat.

You are expected at the lodge in good time to check in and have lunch. You will then take a drive to the lake as you enjoy the scenery, bird watching and animals that are within.
