Kenya & East Africa Safaris — Kendirita Tours and Travel

Kenya & East Africa Safaris.Crafted by the People Who Live Here.

A safari is not only about where you go, but how well the journey is planned. From the Maasai Mara in Kenya to Tanzania’s Serengeti to gorilla trekking in Uganda or Rwanda, our team designs each journey around the season and the experience you hope to have.

The Rare Five Northern Kenya Safari

Most safaris show you the Big Five. Ours shows you the five animals that define Kenya's wild north — and that most visitors never see. Samburu · Ol Pejeta · Laikipia — away from the tourist routes, away from the shared game drive vehicles, into the real northern Kenya that most visitors never experience.

Reticulated Giraffe

Known for its striking, net-like patterned coat — the most visually distinctive giraffe subspecies in Africa.

Gerenuk

A long-necked antelope famous for standing upright on its hind legs to browse treetops other grazers can't reach.

Grevy's Zebra

The largest and most endangered zebra species, identified by its narrower stripes and larger, rounded ears.

Beisa Oryx

A striking desert antelope with long, straight horns and bold black-and-white facial markings.

Somali Ostrich

A distinct ostrich species with blue-grey neck and legs, found only in Kenya's arid north and the Horn of Africa.

When to visit

When to Go on Safari in Kenya & East Africa

Kenya and East Africa safaris can be planned throughout the year — but the best timing depends entirely on what you want to experience. This guide helps you match your travel dates to the right safari.

Great Migration Peak

Best time

July – October

Best for: wildlife spectacle, river crossings, big cats, photographers. Parks: Maasai Mara, Mara conservancies, Serengeti (Tanzania). Kendirita advice: book 6–9 months ahead — a well-positioned camp matters more than exact dates.

Calving Season

January – March

Best for: predator action, wildebeest calving, fewer tourists. Parks: Southern Serengeti and Ndutu (Tanzania). Kendirita advice: excellent predator viewing, lower rates than peak season, best combined with a Kenya–Tanzania itinerary since the calving grounds sit across the border.

Long Dry Season

Best time

June – October

Best for: overall game viewing, animals at water sources. Parks: all Kenya parks, Tanzania, Uganda, Rwanda. Kendirita advice: the most reliable wildlife viewing season across the board.

Short Dry Season

January – February

Best for: good game viewing, clear skies, Amboseli views. Parks: Amboseli (peak clarity Kilimanjaro views), Samburu. Kendirita advice: Kilimanjaro backdrops are sharpest Jan–Feb — Amboseli's best photography period.

Green Season

March – May, November

Best for: lush landscapes, baby animals, birds, lower rates. Parks: all parks, especially Naivasha, Nakuru, Samburu. Kendirita advice: fewer vehicles and beautiful scenery; occasional heavy rain possible.

Year-Round

All months

Best for: wildlife, short breaks, business extensions. Parks: Nairobi NP, Amboseli, Samburu, Laikipia, Ol Pejeta. Kendirita advice: excellent year-round game viewing regardless of migration.
