Summary

This is one of the amazing pre- history safaris which combine the pre-history and wild life safari.

The safari takes you to some of the finest Kenya wildlife parks, game sanctuaries, orphanages, cultural centers and farms .All this interprets the biology; social and economic live hoods of these proto humans with us.

Itinerary

Day 1: Nairobi - Olorgasalie Prehistoric Site

On arrival, you will meet with our representative and you will be transferred to your Nairobi hotel. After checking in, you will embark in your tour van and drive to the National museums of Kenya. You will later be transferred to the Carnivore for dinner and later be taken back to your hotel for the night.

OVERNIGHT AT THE HOTEL

Day 2: Nairobi - Olorgasalie Prehistoric Site

After breakfast, you embark on your tour van and depart to Olorgasalie Prehistoric Site which is about an hour drive away from Nairobi. This site is the world renown as the “factory of stone tools” and the only place in the world with the largest number. This site was an area of intensive habitation and activity by a population of Homo erectus, around 500,000 years ago.

There are several activities that you can participate in including bird watching and climbing Mt. Olorgasalie and a visit to Lake Magadi.

You are expected back in Nairobi in good time and transferred to your hotel for dinner and have the rest of the evening at leisure.

DINNER AND OVERNIGHT AT THE LODGE

Day 3: Nairobi- Kariandusi Prehistoric Site

On this day after breakfast, you will embark on your tour van and depart to Lake Elmenteita which hosts the Kariandusi Prehistoric Site. This site was unearthed by Louis Leakey in the 1920’s and has been a rich source of prehistoric obsidian tools, made by early humans between 1.4 million and 200,000 years ago. Most of the tools found at Kariandusi are cutting implements which seem to have been used for butchering meat.

You will have the whole day at this site as you enjoy other activities like bird watching, Nature walks, Trail, spend time at the Archeological Site, Museum Exhibition Hall, a visit to the Monumental Church Building and the Gorge. You will enjoy your lunch at the picnic site.

You will be transferred to your lodge in good time for dinner and have the rest of the evening at leisure enjoying the activities at the lodge.

Day 4: Lake Elementaita-Hyrax Hill Prehistoric Site

After breakfast, you will depart and head on to Nakuru which is the home for Hyrax Hill Prehistoric Site. The site was gazettedas a National Monument in 1943, four years after the first archeological excavation on the hill. It has since been renowned archaeological research area and a reference point for investigations of the prehistory of East Africa.

Here you will enjoy your lunch at the Picnic Site as you enjoy the Picturesque View of Lake Nakuru. You can also take nature walks and a visit to the Tortoise Pit.

You will depart in good time to Lake Nakuru national park to take an evening game drive and to the lodge in good time for dinner and have the rest of the evening at leisure.

Day 5: Nakuru-Kabarnet

After breakfast, depart for Kabarnet where you will visit the archaeological site where they excavated the Millennium Man and also visit the Kabarnet Museum.

Kabarnet museum was opened to the public in 1996. It has four main public galleries featuring the Rift Valley people, their culture, its environment, indigenous knowledge and science for education. There are exhibits especially on the culture of the Keiyo / Marakwet, Samburu, Pokot, Nandi and Kipsigis. You also get to learn the history of the district, from pre-colonial, colonial and post-independence era.

You will do your picnic lunch here and later be transferred to the hotel for dinner and have the rest of the evening at leisure.

DAY 6: Kabarnet-Lake Baringo

On this day, you will depart to visit Lake Bogoria have lunch and later in the afternoon drive to Lake Baringo. You will arrive at the shores in good time for a boat transfer to the island camp. You will arrive in good time for dinner and have the rest of the evening at leisure.

Day 7: Lake Baringo – Koobi Fora prehistoric site

You will take your breakfast on time then embark on your tour van for a two hours trip to Eldoret. You are expected to arrive in good time for lunch at a city hotel and immediately be transferred to the airport for your flight to Turkana County the home of Koobi fora prehistoric site.

You will arrive in good time to visit the Turkana village before being transferred to your lodge in good time for dinner and have the rest of the night at leisure.

Day 8: Koobi Fora Pre historic Site

This day after breakfast, you will spend the morning at the prehistoric site. Lake Turkana also referred to as the Jade Sea is an area of great importance in terms of human culture. Koobi Fora is on the far North shores of the lake near Sibiloi national park. Since June 1968, more than 70 hominid fossils had been recovered. One hominid model; Australopithecus SensuLato, has been documented as a chrono species of over a period of 2 million years old.

You will be back to the lodge for lunch then take an afternoon game drive to Sibiloi national Park.

You are expected back to the lodge in good time for dinner and have the rest of the evening at leisure.

DINNER AND OVERNIGHT AT THE LODGE

Day 9: Full Day

You will take a visit to the lake and return to the lodge for lunch and later a visit to the Turkana village and return in good time for dinner and have the rest of the evening at leisure.

Day 10: Lodwar –Nairobi

After breakfast, you will be transferred to the air strip for your flight to Nairobi. You are expected to arrive in good time for your flight back home.
